Case Study

Flood Re: Be Flood Smart

BACKGROUND

Millions of households and businesses in flood prone areas are failing to put in basic protection against rising waters. ON were tasked with ensuring the public are aware of the serious risks of not protecting their home from flood risk damage whilst encouraging them to install cost effective Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures, through the Be Flood Smart Campaign.

OUR THINKING

Our approach was to focus on those areas across most at risk from flooding by using the latest RoFRS data; utilising case studies at our disposal with footage of flooding captured on their phones, the Director of the Environment Agency Caroline Douglass hit the airwaves to give practical advice on preventative steps. With the data broken down by Local Authorities, and the winter months just around the corner, we knew this was an issue of public interest that newsrooms would respond well to.

RESULTS

The awareness went through the roof – resonating with broadcasters and audiences alike. The story was covered across the country by almost 30 broadcasters across Radio and TV.
