BetStars – Ricky Wilson & Freddie Flintoff

BACKGROUND

We were asked to get a few media interviews for Freddie Flintoff and Ricky Wilson to promote their new unofficial World Cup anthem, a reboot of Boney M’s Rasputin, which you can see here. But be warned… it’s an earworm.

 

OUR THINKING

What do you do when you have Ricky Wilson and Freddie Flintoff but only for an hour and a half; at incredibly short notice; and at a time of day that isn’t usually great for broadcast? Well, you get to work. Using our inhouse database, we were able to alert broadcasters instantly and get on the phones offering content. We also ensured media were provided with a minute long clip of the song that could be used for editorial purposes. Finally, we aimed to ensure time wasn’t wasted travelling between studios, by getting media to come to Freddie and Ricky where possible and working with media to set up facetime interviews.

 

RESULTS

Requests from pretty much all the major broadcasters led to some incredible coverage on 5Live (in what has to be one of the funniest celebrity interviews for some time), Sky News TV, 6Music, Channel 5 News (via facetime) and Chris Evans (Radio 2) and others…
